PVC Keder

PVC Keder for Tents, Awnings and Fabric Rail Systems

Full-bond PVC keder designed to connect coated fabric panels with compatible aluminium rail systems across tent, awning, banner, marine and industrial applications.

Overview

PVC keder forms a reinforced edge that slides into a compatible rail or channel. A PVC core is wrapped with PVC-coated fabric so the finished profile can be welded, sewn or otherwise integrated into a fabric assembly according to the product design.

Kedermaker supplies PVC keder in project-specific diameters, flap constructions, fabric specifications, colours and roll formats. The wider available diameter ranges from 2.8mm-30 mm, subject to profile design, material selection and production confirmation.

Why Work with Kedermaker

Typical Applications

PVC keder is used in tents and marquees, awnings and canopies, banners and fabric displays, marine canvas, pool and protective covers, temporary structures and custom industrial textile assemblies.
The correct keder depends on more than diameter. Rail opening, internal channel geometry, fabric thickness, welding or sewing method, installation direction, bend radius and expected operating environment all affect product selection.

How to Choose a PVC Keder

1.Measure the rail opening and internal channel or provide a rail drawing.
2.Identify whether the panel needs one attachment surface, two attachment surfaces, a repair strip or a removable hook-and-loop component.
3.Confirm the fabric type, thickness and planned welding or sewing method.
4.State the application, installation direction and expected indoor or outdoor environment.

Custom Manufacturing and Quality Review

Kedermaker can review custom PVC core diameters, flap widths, coated fabrics, colours, roll lengths and packaging. Production tolerances, material grades and inspection requirements should be agreed in the approved specification before manufacture.
For replacement projects, a physical sample of the existing keder and a rail section usually provide better information than a nominal diameter alone. For new designs, send the rail CAD file or a dimensioned cross-section with the intended fabric construction.

FAQ

What is PVC keder used for?
PVC keder creates a reinforced fabric edge that fits into a compatible rail. It is commonly used in tents, awnings, banners, covers and fabric structures where a removable or tensioned connection is required.
What diameters are available?
Kedermaker's wider PVC keder range covers 4-20 mm, subject to the selected profile, fabric construction and project confirmation. Not every construction is available in every diameter.
What is the difference between single and double flap keder?
Single flap keder provides one fabric attachment surface. Double flap keder provides two. The correct choice depends on panel construction, load path, fabrication method and the required finished profile.
Can you match an existing rail?
Yes. Send a rail drawing, rail section and existing keder sample where possible. A trial sample should be checked in the actual rail before production approval.
Can PVC keder be customized?
Diameter, flap construction, flap width, fabric, colour, roll length and packaging can be reviewed. Final availability depends on the approved specification and order requirements.
Which PVC keder should I choose for a damaged tent panel?
Start with the Repair Keder page. Send the original keder dimensions, panel fabric details, photos of the damage and the installation equipment available to your repair team.
